11 is young to be worrying about not having had a boyfriend.
You have so much life ahead of you, and you'll have one soon! I didn't have one until I was fifteen and I'm so happy with my life right now. You'll be fine.
If you like someone, great. Go for it & have fun. If not, don't worry!

I believe dating is all about age appropriateness, and early dating is about how to communicate and develop relationships with the opposite sex.

When you are 11, it is important to know your values and what types of activities you would do with a boy. Such as, are you simply hanging out at recess.

Adults are always concerned that dating will then leads to early sex and then there is a risk of early pregnancy. It is important to know ANY time absolutely ANY time you have sex or the penis and vagina are even close to one another you are at risk of getting pregnant.

So before you ever consider having sex you must realize you could get pregnant even if you are using protection or even if you are on the pill - There is always a risk.

The second concern is, is a child emotionally ready for a sexual relationship? You are very likely not ready yet.

All being said, I personally believe age appropriate dating is fine and my daughters need to explain to me why they believe the boy/young man is worth dating/what is special about him.

Bottom line is you have follow your parents rules, because they are your parents. Lying and sneaking around will only create more problems.

Be honest and respect yourself, others, and your parents - this is always the best tactic!
