Launching the Command Prompt in WindowsThere are many ways to access the command prompt, you only need to do one of the following below:
  1. Go to Start - Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt
  2. Click Start - Run (or Windows Key+R), type "cmd", then press enter. Note: you don't need to include the speech marks.
  3. Similar to the above, on Windows Vista or 7, open the start menu, type cmd, then press enter.
Launching the Command Prompt with a Batch File
  1. Open Notepad (Run "notepad" or Start-Programs-Accessories-Notepad)
  2. Type the following in notepad: "start cmd.exe" (without speech marks)
  3. Open the Save dialog (Ctrl-S or File-Save)
  4. Type in "cmd.bat" and Save as Type: All files (*.*), then save the file.
  5. Launch the cmd.bat file.
