IGNORE...IGNORE...IGNORE...Your puppy whines to get your attention, so every time you pay attention to him by trying to ssh him or comfort him ... what is he getting? Yes! just what he wants... your attention! Put his crate somewhere where he cannot see or hear you. This is IMPORTANT... DON'T EVEN LOOK AT HIM ! You can try covering his crate with a sheet, give him a quiet kiss on the head, tell him goodnight and DO NOT GO BACK!!! You can even try a nightlight if he seems worse in the dark. Trust me a few nights of ignoring him and he WILL settle down.
Either invest in a smaller crate, or block off a part of a larger crate to make the dogs space smaller. The dog will start the think of the crate as is bedroom, and it won't want to go to the bathroom in its bedroom. If there is room for the dog to go to the bathroom and then lay in another area where it can stay away from the feces, the crate is too big. Dogs do not want to lay in their own feces, so a small crate would help to curb this habit.
A dog crate as I understand it is for transportation and the the kennel is for housing/protection
What i did was spray the cage with this spray you can get at pet stores it taste like green apples so the dog will stop biting as for clawing i would say trim its nails
Rub their nose in it, sternly say no and lightly hit them on the muzzle and stick them in a crate or kennel.
making the crate a punishment may confuse the dog because the crate is supposed to be a secure place for the dog a place a dog can go to sleep or just be alone.
yes, if you introduce the dog to the crate properly. don't just shove it in there and leave it alone.
Try getting a "simple solutions" puppy pad holder, more toys to entertain your dog, or crate training.
Never, ever, ever yell. Dogs don't like it when you yell. Here's some tips... -Just say "ow!". Dogs could get suprised and stop biting for a bit. -Stop whatever you're doing with the dog and leave it alone. This causes the dog to think nipping "stops the fun", which no dog wants. -If the dog bites often, send her to her crate/someplace she won't escape from. Do this quickly, though, or the dog won't think she's going in the crate for nipping.
The minimum value of for a new folding dog crate is 15 dollars. The minimum value for a used folding dog crate is only 99 cents if won by a bid on eBay.

Try to introduce him to the crate. If it is a house dog that is used to being free they may not like it. If not there shouldn't be a problem. It may upset the older dog.
Try giving your dog a cuddly toy ,a blanket and hide a ticking clock outside the bed/crate. hope this helps! :)
