To install a software/program you will require the download setup (.exe) file or the CD for manual installation.
If you have a setup file:

You may be prompted to add addons, such as toolbars for Firefox or Safari. This is your choice. Click next. The setup will now begin installing. This provides easy access to the program from the home screen or desktop. You now have a new program on your computer!
