Refer to the case court jacket on file with the clerk of the court's office. If the jacket does not already contain a typewritten transcript of the trial (very few do), the file will contain information as to who the court stenographer was, or what agency or company they worked for. Contact the court stenographer, or their employer, and they will quote you a price for reproducing the transcript.
If the trial is taken down, you would be looking for a transcript. In most cases, you could order a copy from the court reporter at your own cost. However, due to the cost of transcripts, it is rare that a non-party would spend the money for the transcript.
A federal court transcript would be a work of the US Government, and would be exempt from copyright protection. Lower court transcripts would be works of state governments, which may or may not be exempt.
all you have to do is go the court where the trial took place and request a transcript from the clerk of courts. They may require a small charge per page for printing this out for you. I am trying to obtain the transcript of a trial just concluded and have been informed that I could have it after I wrote them a check for $11,500.00. It is a typed record of court proceedings, once trial has concluded. All oral evidence given at the trial will be recorded therein.
