well this isn't an answer. i was the one who submitted this. i going to add on. What happened was i looked up all the albums to my songs so i could get all the album artwork and i changed them under music under my iPod. when i went to "get album artwork" it said it couldn't find any. i pressed the plus sign and it was all the music before i changed it. Please Help!!!!

there is no button that directly mutes it. you can use the volume control buttons on the side to turn the volume down to zero or you can use the virtual volume bar under album artwork
If you have iTunes, you should get an option to. If not, in windows media player, go under the tab the says rip.
