That depends on how dirty the tank is and what kind of 'dirt' is in the tank. It also depends on what species the fish are and how baby(tiny) they are. If the dirt is algae, then I'd simply scrape it off the glass and syphon the muck out if neccessary. I'd be very carefull that the fry would not be sucked up the syphon tube. If the tank was foul and putrid I'd remove/net or syphon the fish out and strip the tank down for a scrubbing.

∙ 11y agoTo maintain your fishtank you should perform regular weekly water changes of at least 50%, you should have ample filtration, make sure you do not overstock your tank, use an algae scrubber to clean the walls, and have a gravel vacuum to suck up any left over food or waste from the bottom.
