There are several ways, some more practical then others. First, do you plan to paint, stain, or glue again to this floor? If so avoid using any kind of adhesive remover. The same chemicals that will release this glue will not allow the new to bond. The most obvious answer is to scrap up the glue. You can add water that will help hydrate the glue, but then can also make it messier. You can buy for around $30 to $40 a heavy duty floor scraper. If you are using any kind of putty knife or hand scraper, stop. You will most likely never get it all up. Your other option is to rent a power scraper. They are available in a rental center in most Home Depot's or Lowe's. This will take up your old floor quickly and easily. The down side is the machine is heavy and bulky. It might be hard to get into a basement or hard to get to part of your home. Expect to pay $150 + for a 24 hour rental. If you are going to be putting flooring back into its place, the glue doesn't need to be completely gone. You don't want to leave chunks or raised areas. If all you are left with is something you can only feel somewhat with your hand, you are most likely fine to go over with the new glue.

How do you get carpet glue to turn loose of a concrete floor-it' really stuck down?

Carpet glue by its nature is extremely sticky as it is made to keep a rug from moving. If you need to get the glue off of a concrete floor you can use a floor grinder. You can also scrape it.

Is it difficult but eye-appealing to replace a house's carpeting with finished concrete flooring in one room?

Not really. You will need to seal the concrete surface to prevent concrete dust becoming a problem. Also, the carpet makes the floor warmer to walk on, concrete would feel cold to bare feet.

Why Concrete Staining May Be of Benefit if You Have a Concrete Floor?

No one likes his or her concrete floor to look like a dull, boring, gray floor. There are many things you can do with a concrete floor - you can install tile on top of it, you can carpet it, or you can paint it. All of these things can create many undesired issues, however. If you install carpet on your concrete floor and there happens to be any flood or water damage issues going on, eventually you will have mold growing underneath your carpet. So, as you can see, this option can create a definite health hazard. If you place tile on a concrete floor, there is always the chance that the tile won’t adhere to the concrete particularly well. Plus, if you ever decide to pull the tile up from the floor, the adhesive that is underneath the tile will be particularly hard to remove. Painting is another option, but paint can chip and wear quite easily if your concrete floor has heavy foot traffic on it. The best option, by far, is concrete staining for your concrete floor. Concrete staining does not have to be any more expensive, nor any more difficult than other methods of improving upon a concrete floor. Some people may choose to hire professionals to do such a staining project, while others want to attempt to complete the project themselves. You do not necessarily have to have experience to complete such a project, but you need a ton of patience to finish the floor. It may be worth it to you to have a professional stain the floor if you feel that you do not have the time or patience to complete the project. However, it is obviously going to be much cheaper to complete the concrete staining yourself. Overall, concrete staining can give your basement or other concrete floor a very elegant and finished look. It may be the best option you have when it comes to improving upon your concrete floor. Now is the time to choose the particular stain that you want for your floor. You can pick different stains, depending on how you want your floor to look.

Why might a glass survive a fall on the carpet but not on a concrete floor?

The carpet is made of material that spreads the shock across the surface area of a greater distance than concrete. Concrete is more dense than carpet making it susceptible.

5 Why does a concrete floor feel colder than one covered with carpet even when at same temperature?

The reason a concrete floor feels colder than a carpeted floor is because the carpet acts as an insulator to trap heat. The concrete on the other hand will stay cold way longer once it is cold.

What kind of carpet padding for basements?

You don't put padding directly on a concrete floor. You have to frame out the floor, lay plywood sheets over the frame, probably want a vapor barrier as well. Then you can lay any pad and carpet you want. There are certain types of carpet that come with an attached foam padding that are designed to lay over concrete. If you think you want to just glue carpet directly to the concrete floor, check the mfg. warranty first. Most mfgs. will not honor their warranty unless they specifically state that it can be glued to concrete.

Why is a concrete floor colder than carpet even though they are the same temperature?

Concrete conducts heat away from your foot faster than carpet, so it feels colder, but they are the same temperature.

A glass dropped on the floor is more likely to break if the floor is concrete than if it is wood why?

A glass dropped on a concrete floor is more likely to break than if it was dropped on a wood floor because the concrete has no bend to it. A wood floor might help absorb some of the impact by bending slightly when the glass hit it.
