You can remove a charge off by either disputing it to the credit bureaus are negotiating the removal with the original creditor. The credit bureaus have 30 days to verify a dispute or it must be removed from your credit report. You can negotiate the removal upon final payment of the amount owed with the original creditor, but make sure you get this writing before paying them off.

UPDATE: Actually, you can force Equifax, Experian and TransUnion to remove a Charge-Off from your credit report and you can do it legally using a federal law that is in place. Credit Bureaus MUST have "verifiable proof" of the "Charge-Off" in their files if they are going to report the negative item on your report. The dirty little secret the credit bureaus don't want you to know is that they do not have any "verifiable proof" in their files for any of the negative items on your credit report. The original creditor may have this information on file but the credit bureaus don't. If you request the credit bureau to provide you with the "verifiable proof" that they have in their files they will remove the negative from your file.

Not only can you get a Charge-Off Legally Removed from your credit report but you can also get Bankruptcies, Foreclosures, Default Judgments, Tax Liens, Repos, Charge-Offs, collections etc...all removed. All negatives no matter how bad, how many or how recent ... they all can be removed legally

How to fix auto loan charge off?

What do you mean by "fix" it? Do you want this taken off of your credit report? Was the loan legitimately charged off? Do you still owe a balance on the loan? If you have a legitimate charge off reported on your credit report, it cannot be legally removed. If you owe a balance and the charge off is recent, paying off the balance could help. However, the charge off will still show on your credit report for 7 years, and only time will remove it. Still, if you keep your credit in good shape otherwise, the charge off will hurt you less and less as time goes by. Read more about your credit report and score in the link below.

What does charge off on a credit report mean?

It means the creditor has essentially given up on trying to collect a debt from you (though they may have sold it to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar). There's also a "paid charge off", which means that, after they gave up, you paid it off anyway, which really doesn't do you much good, because a paid charge off looks just as bad on your credit report as a charge off. A charge off, of either kind, is the third worst thing you can have on your credit report, after (1) bankruptcy, and (2) repossession/foreclosure.

How do you remove charge offs from a credit report?

Charge-offs remain on your credit report for 7 years. If the account has been included in a bankruptcy, it should be marked as such...."included in bankruptcy". However, according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, if you dispute the charge-off with the credit bureau and the creditor can not verify the account, it must be removed from your credit report immediately. Only the original creditor or the credit bureaus can remove a charge off, either through negotiations or through the dispute process.

How do you remove a false charge off date from your credit report if the date was reset from the original?

You can have a credit dispute, if the agency reporting the bad judgment does not get back with the company disputing the judgment within 30 days, it HAS to be removed from your credit report. Example: I filed bankruptcy(?) on a auto repo. and the company did not take it off my credit report, I had my credit card company do a credit dispute, they did not respond within 30 days, and it was removed from my credit report.
