Your Neutral Safety Switch needs to either be adjusted, cleaned or replaced. A new one runs about $250, but you can remove it and clean the contacts (maybe expand the springs for better contact if required.) The grease that is used inside can get hard and prevent the contacts from touching. It's located on the front of the transmission on the drivers side and it's relatively easy to remove. Remove the nut that holds the shift lever onto the Switch, pull the wiring harness off, remove the large nut, washer and rubber gasket from the transmission lever and then remove the two bolts that hold the switch on. Remove the Neutral Safety Switch and then take the switch apart. Make sure that both contacts on the wiper are clean and that the springs push the contacts against the copper tracks. Also clean the contacts and traces with fine sandpaper. Put it back together and re-install just the opposite of the way you took it out. You should see all your PRNDL lights on your dash again. You might need to adjust the switch slightly if the lights don't line up with the gear you are in. Always be sure that the little pointer on the front of the switch points straight up with you are in neutral.

What causes the 4X4 high and low indicators to flash at the same time along with the OD indicator and the transmission won't come out of 4X4 high even though the selector is in the AUTO position?

Sensor on the differential is keeping it in 2WD mode, you won't have 4WD until this is fixed. Since you say it's stuck in 4WD it won't come out until the sensor is changed.

If it is equipped with the automatic transmission - the "P" indicator on your gear selector will remain lit for 16 minutes after shutdown. After the 16 minutes has passed, you'll notice the lamp has gone out. That is your indicator that the vehicle has entered "sleep" mode (when the light is out).
