All Windows-based operating systems from XP on up should be able to share files with each other, no matter what brand the computer is. If your computer is equipped with Windows 7, it's even easier to share files. Your Compaq should be just fine sharing files if it has XP, Vista, or 7 installed. :^)

Windows Time is active by default when Windows Vista is first installed. I have installed Windows X's Vista transformation pack before on my Windows XP computer and it worked just fine. I installed the Windows 7 Transformation Pack 3.0 on my Windows XP before and it REALLY slowed it down... But that might have been because I had a partially installed Vista Transformation Pack that couldn't be removed... They have 5.0, which is supposed to be a lot more stable. I would download Tuneup Utilities and Revo Uninstaller before you try it.
