Not all Codecs in Windows Media Player is installed on all Microsoft Windows PCs, because its not installed on default. Most users would use another media player that already comes with the Codecs by default.
The best place to get a Windows Media Player Codecs pack is directly from the official Windows website. Other options include Amazon, Argos, Comet and eBay.
You can open your windows media player and find the help option and look up there. or you can go to google and type in HELP FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER -or- Here is a link to the official Windows Media Center troubleshooting page. This is most often caused by not having proper video codecs installed. A codec is basically a set of instructions that Windows Media Player would need to properly decode the video stream. When Windows cannot find the proper codecs it attempts to decode as much of the file as possible which is why you are more than likely getting audio but no video. Two of the more common video codecs for AVI files are DivX and XviD. http://www.divx.com http://www.xvid.org
Because you don't have the required codec, most commonly MPEG4 video codecs. Microsoft would prefer you to play media in their own Windows Media codec. Try FFDShow to install the codecs you need, other alternatives are VLC and Media Player Classic.
No it can not. You need special codecs to do this. Or you can download itunes or use Quicktime Pro. I will recommend Cyberlink powerdvd.

I have the same problem until the file is completely downloaded. It gives a message about Windows Media Player not having the right Codecs. In Limewire, you might try going into "Tools" then "Options" then click on "Players" and check the box titled "Use Limewire Media Player", then "Apply".
If your Windows Media Player does not show the video portion of a file, it means you need to download the appropriate codecto play the file. The easiest way to do that is to download a codec package, which contains the most recent codecs available.Google: K-lite Codec Package and download the 'Basic' package. This will open most videos in Windows Media PlayerIt means to download a newer version of Windows Media Player.
