Try gasoline or acitone but there is no guarentee.
ANSWER:A couple of different ways. I use sandpaper to remove glue off of wood. I use a wet cloth to get it off before it dries. On aluminum, use a paint scraper or putty knife.ANS 3 - It depends on the type of glue - you haven't said which. -Aluminum is no problem, almost any glue will be removed with careful use of a thin blade ( eg.craft knife ). - Wood IS a problem. Very thin liquid glues will penetrate the surface and will be very difficult to remove.
It will sometimes just peel off. If that doesn't work try repeatedly pouring hot water on and scrubbing with a stiff brush.
If it's white or yellow wood glue, just wash in hot water.
Dip a rag in Goof Off and rub it on the carpet glue, it will soften enough to peel it off.
acetone nail varnish remover
For white glue or another PVA, scrub it with warm water and shop vac it up. Repeat 2-3 times.
From what I know you have to resand them down?ANS 2 - if the cabinets were finished with polish, it may be possible to get it off with a razor blade or fine craft knife.Ans 3sharp corners on knives or razors can damage the surface of the cabinet, as will sanding. When repairing furniture or cabinets i remove as much glue as possible with a lightly dampened sponge. After the glue has dried I have a chisel on which I've rounded the corners, to keep from gouging the wood. This is good to carefully scrape off hardened glue while keeping surface damage to a minimum.
I would try a wood chisel. Try to get the point under an edge of the glue and pry it up.
your hands will most likely stick together. i wouldnt do it
Murphys Oil Soap and a cotton cloth.
You should scrape the old glue off if you expect a flat surface.
Soak it in water for about an hour then it will peel off.
Elmer's white glue will hold wood together for craft projects and toys. - Yellow carpenter's glue will hold better. The best of all is TiteBond lll which has been scientifically tested and proven to be the strongest of today's available wood glues.
First determine the type of wood oak, ash, or pine. Then the finish is it lacquer, urethane or french wax. If your wood table is oak with any of the mentioned finishes use a cotton swab soaked in a little acetone. Apply the acetone directly on the dried glue. After a few minutes, spray area with a soapy solution such a little dish washing liquid with water and scrap off the glue with the edge of a sharp knife. Angle the knife just enough so that it slides on the soapy water and catches on the glue. Once the glue is removed, dry and use a furniture polish immediately. If the wood is ash or pine, use nail polish remover instead. Nail polish remover is less harsh however; it will evaporate before it penetrates the finish.
