Get some twezers -- flat headed ones are nice. Get a GOOD grasp on the body of the tick and exert a slow, steady pull. After a time (as much as 10 minutes, so be patient), that slow steady pull will generally extract him just fine. Once extracted, make sure it's alive and seems to have all its parts. The trick here is to take all the time you need in order to extract the tick ALIVE, so it doesn't leave parts of itself behind in the wound, which invariably causes infection. So take your time, get a good grip, and try hard not to crush the tick or tear it in half.' If you DO leave part in the wound, the literature say contact a doctor for removal. More folksy remedies say it'll form a pimple and pop out of it's own accord, or you can go after it like a splinter. The solution is up to you. Tick lore is rampant, and a lot of it is either silly or dangerous. Here are some examples of the dangerous ones to avoid: * DONT try and burn the tick out with a lit cigarette, matches, etc. The legend is the tick will sense the warmth, unburrow, and hurry away. The reality is you'll have a burn to go with your now-dead tick. * DONT try to poison the tick with alcohol. That'll kill hm and mak ehim a LOT harder to extract intact. * Don't use mineral oil to lubricate on the way out. This just kills the tick too, and it makes your tweezers slippery. No conversaiton about ticks would be complete without remarks on Lyme's disease, and no discussion on Lyme's disease would fit in this answer, so I'll leave you with this: If, in a week you get a flu that lasts 7-8 days and disappears -- then reappears -- you might want to talk to a doc. And... Sheep ticks are not the primary carriers of Lyme's. So for now don't worry.
sheep can get abnortus croptosus and hiposthius
The scientific or taxonomic name would be Dermacentor marginatus.
Ticks are often harmful to humans. For instance, the sheep tick could cause Lyme disease in humans.
