Check your lease for the termination clause. It will spell out exactly what you need to do in order to end the lease early. If there is no early termination clause, you will need to pay the rent as required for the period of the lease.
You and your boyfriend will probably need to discuss who will be financially responsible for this, and discuss whether it makes the most financial sense for one of you to continue the lease, either alone or with a new roommate.
