The child should only take it if it has been prescribed by a doctor.
It is extremely important to notify your pharmacist of all allergies. If the prescribed medication does contain the ingredient that you're allergic to (like codeine), it's their job to consult with the doctor to find another medication that will be just as effective that does not contain the ingredient that you are allergic to.
You need to discuss this with the Doctor that prescribed you medication. Self medication should NEVER be undertaken as any other drug may not be correct for your condition.
If you were prescribed codeine by two different doctors, then you should ask a pharmacist or one of the doctors first before taking both of them. If the second doctor that prescribed the codeine to you doesn't know you're already taking it, then him prescribing it to you was an error. Taking two types of codeine together is effectively taking a larger dose. Taking too large of a dose of powerful drugs like codeine is dangerous. On the other hand, if a single doctor prescribed both to you, and told you to take both of them, then you probably should.
Probably not. Promethazine is an ingredient in some cough syrups already, and has a similar effect to other ingredients commonly found in cough syrups. If you really feel strongly that you need both, you should ask your pharmacist to recommend one where there won't be an adverse drug interaction.
Codeine has mild analgesics properties and also it doses not cause addiction.Codeine IS addictive. MeemersCodeine is definitely an addictive medication and usage should always be monitored by a doctor. Codeine is an analgesic narcotic.Effects of codeine generally start to have an effect within 30 minutes after ingestion and the effect can last from four to six hours, or as much as 8 hours.Codeine is addictive, so you should take care to follow your doctor's instructions about dosage and how long you should be taking the drug. When codeine reaches the brain, it is converted to morphine. It then suppresses your cough center, causing you to cough less. It is generally prescribed for a cough that is non-productive.
No one should be taking Promethazine without a prescription, so you would need to ask your doctor or prescribing physician.

Gabapentin should be taken exactly as prescribed by a doctor.
I am no doctor but I just got the 2 of them prescribed by a doctor went to the pharmacy and was lucky the pharmacist was on the ball. I am allergic to codeine and ultram is a derivative and should not be taken by people that are allergic to codeine. Well long story short I did some reading and though ultram is a great pain management drug all I have been reading it should not be taken with a muscle relaxer and in studies the 2 mixed have cause convulsions. Like I said I am no doctor but after what I read, I would not recommend it.
