After many painful hours, and doing system restores, that I thought had worked, the downloader.dyfica kept returning. I finally just installed a Trojan tracker software and that did the trick!! I also changed my internet temp history to zero days becasue it was coming in that way also. Save yourself some trouble, download the software. Its worth it!!!

First of all, you need to put better security in place, and learn how to protect yourself. If you have all those, then you have a very real need for security. Visit my site @ www.centcomcomputers.net and read the security threats page, and all the other pages as well to learn about new threats. As far as removing them, the same as all other threats, turn off system restore if you have it, reboot in safe mode, do a remote scan from Symantec, find out where they located there resident files, then proceed to remove them one by one. Symantec may also have a removal tool for the threat so be sure to search their site. But in the mean time, here are a few suggestions:

Don't visit any porn sites, they are known to contain malicious code on their pages.

Get a good anti-virus program such as Norton.

Do not put your trust in Norton. Install the free version of AVG at least as a backup. Make sure all plugins are turned on, i.e. resident scan, use heuristics etc. keep up to date daily it will protect your computer quite well and repair if possible.

The problem with trojans of that type, especially if you are using Windows XP, is that they eventually end up in your System Volume Information folder.

Someone suggested using AVG - well, AVG will NOT scan the System Volume Information folder. Nor do any of the other virus scanners we have tried here in our labs. Nor have any of the so-called Trojan killers ever found Dropper.Bridge.A much less isolated or eradicated it when it resides in the System Volume Information folder.

The only solution we have found is a complete DOD-type wipe of the hard drive and re-install of the system.

BTW, it isn't just porno and warez sites that will give you the Trojan willies - we've noted attempts by "legitimate" web sites also.

I'm 99% sure that the 'dropper.bridge.a' virus is something to do with 'acdsee6'. This is where the detailed info led me and when I deleted it, restarted, and reran AVG it had gone.

This virus was found on my system by AVG during a complete scan of all drives.

After scan is finished, select each infected file to the vault, some will not be able to be sent to the vault, being a Trojan horse.

Locate what file they are in (possibly a zip file that hasn't been opened) and delete the files. Files found in system restore can be deleted by turning off the restore for all drives, and rebooting.

After rebooting remove all files from the recycle bin.

Reboot again then run AVG again. The infected files should be gone now.

Reset the restore function for all drivers.

When AVG tells you a file is infected take action at that time. DO NOT ignore it for later!

I found Dropper Bridge.A packed in:

cfmd26s1.zip

from this folder:

C:\Program Files\Mass Downloader

It could have been downloaded from a crack-site wile trying to crack the program "Mass Downloader". This is a download manager.

I simply deleted and wiped the cfmd26s1.zip file with BC wipe

At least now, AVG does scan the sys. vol information. Details have already been posted on how to correct this. (turn off system restore, reboot)

And I have to concur, when you see an alert, act on it that moment. I let it go by, and when I scanned this morning, the worm had let in 15 other nice worms, and I have a days work in the registery ahead of me....

All Trojan horses are hidden files so you would need to go to the Files Option (click the View tab)at Control Panel and uncheck both the *Hide file extension for known file types & *Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)-boxes, then OK yourself out. You will then need to restart your computer and and go into Safe Mode by holding the F8 key down -(kind of at the beginning of start up). When you're at the DeskTop screen go to Start/ Search/ For Files and Folders and type up the NAME OF THE FILE & EXT which would have shown up on your Anti-Virus software, you can delete this file from here.

I have had 4 Trojan horses on my C drive and kinda figured out the above method a week ago. I deleted the Temp file from the Restore folder after unchecking the hidden files boxes, then went to SafeMode to delete what virus files that were still there. My computer is now absolutely FREE of these pests!

You can get rid of this Trojan horse by following these steps .

1 Download and intall the Malwarebytes on your computer .

2 Update your Malwarebytes .

3 Scan your computer for all the malwares in your computer .

4 Remove all the malwares , found while scanning with the malwarebytes .

5 Restart your computer .
