There are a number of us here that are WikiAnswers Supervisors- when we find those, we delete them- and sometimes, we delete the vandal leaving those answers. If you have a question that has been vandalized, you can improve the answer by deleting that response, save it, and it goes back to the "to be answered" pile.

You cannot delete your question on WikiAnswers. As long as it isn't against the rules on WikiAnswers, your question will stay. If you want to remove every answer that you wrote and do not want your user name (or ID) to appear as the one who made the last edit to an answer to a question, ask a supervisor to get rid of your answers for you. The supervisor will only get rid of your answers if they are invalid as an answer to the question, and will not get rid of the answer if it is a good answer.

Why is WikiAnswers mean when you just asked a question?

If the answer was rude, the answer was written by a vandal (a person whose intent is to purposefully ruin WikiAnswers), and should be removed immediately. However, if your question was gotten rid of, it was because your question was inappropriate, added no value whatsoever to WikiAnswers, didn't have enough information to answer, or included a first and/or last name of a non-celebrity.

First, you don't want to get rid of the 'Edit Alternates' button on WikiAnswers. However, if you are asking how to get rid of the alternates of a questions that do not belong, simply click the check mark box (once you clicked the 'Edit Alternates' link) for all alternate wordings that do not apply to the main question, then go up to the top and select 'Split'. Do not remove any alternate wordings that are a reworded form of the main question or are basically asking the same thing as the question.

But, for every problem there is a solution (or many) and there is a dedicated Vandal Patrol that works to rid the site of these messes. Also, the Supervisor community works hard to educate contributors about best practice on WikiAnswers.

Why was a legitimate WikiAnswers question turned into nonsense?

There is one word for this occurrence: vandals. Vandals do anything to mess up WikiAnswers, as they take advantage of the Wiki format where any one can do anything. A vandal just happened to get to that question, and since there are new ones every day, it is really hard to get rid of all of them.
