There are many different ways to remove rust, but they may not be safe for food containers. You also have to bear in mind that the container is likely to rust again, and may not be safe for food. Barkeepers Friend is one of the best products on the market not only for rust stains, but for cleaning in general. Leaving a highly concentrated tea (not herbal) may be able to lift stains.

Yes. There is usually a mechanism to turn off the ice maker, either a switch, or by raising the lever that senses the ice level.

Why won't ice maker create ice?

Check to see if the hose that goes from the water source (under the kitchen sink) to the ice maker isn't pinched off, or that it hasn't come disconnected.

What does a water inlet valve on Ice maker do?

Opens and closes an internal valve to provide/cut-off water to the icemaker - responds to pressure signal from the ice-maker to deliver/cutoff water - ice-maker signal activates an electric solenoid that open/closes the valve for water flow.

Why does your ice maker overflow?

If you mean ice cubes overflowing, then there is probably something in the ice bin that is deflecting the ice cubes, as they fall from the ice maker. If it is something other than that, on some ice makers you can slightly bend the arm (the arm that sets the ice cube maker to go on & off) downwards to detect a full ice cube bin, by bending it downwards the bin will not fill as much, be careful when bending. If you mean the water overflows when the ice cube maker is filling the water into the trays, then there is an adjustment screw under the cover of the ice cube maker, look close and there will be a small "+ and -" indicator, adjust the screw to the minus ("-") side and this will decrease the amount of water that flows into the tray. NOTE: this will make your ice cubes smaller.

Can you make flavored ice in an ice maker?

I really like Coca-Cola. And we are doing a school project where we all have to make an invention. And I hate how whenever I go to Sonic, and I order my Cola, they always put ince in it. And if I put it in my frigde, or even just leave it out, the ice melts, and then the flavor of my Cola is all watery because the ice melted. So what I am doing, is making an invention that can make your drink, into the ice cubes so that even after the cubes melt, it still tastes like my Coke. So I need to know one thing before I pour a cup of Coca-Cola into my ice machine, I need to know, will this mess up my ice-maker? My mom and I are thinking that the sugar in the Cola might clog up the Ice Machine. PLEASE! Help me. If you search for flavored ice maker in Google Patents you will find a patent for "Flavored Ice Maker Cartridge" . So, a patent for what you're trying to do has been issued. If you pour Coke into your ice maker, you'll need to make sure the water to your ice maker is turned off. Once the ice maker has emptied of ice you can pour the Coke into the ice maker. Once the Coke is frozen, the ice maker will automatically empty. Then you can keep pouring Coke or whatever liquid you want into the ice maker every time it has harvested the ice. Once you've turned water back on to the ice maker for normal operation, you'll probably be having Coke flavored ice for a while, but other than that you shouldn't have any problems.

When you unplug your refrigerator do you have to wait for ice maker to start working again?

No, that should not be necessary. Some ice makers have a internal leaver that turns them off when they are full of ice, check to see that that device has not inadvertently been switched to the "off" position.

Troubleshooting Tips for Ice Makers?

Ice makers are a modern convenience that many families enjoy. Ice is readily available anytime without having to go to the convenience store or grocery market. Generally, ice makers can make enough ice for the entire family to use in a day without running out. However, ice makers can also be a complex part of a refrigerator and one of the first things to break. They can be costly to repair, too, so it’s a good thing to know how to trouble shoot an ice maker before calling a repairman. Below are some common symptoms and checks that can help troubleshoot any issues the ice maker is having. Too much ice If the ice maker is making too much ice, or never shuts off, the first thing to check is the shutoff arm. This is the lever that rises as ice is being made. When it reaches a certain level, the ice maker shuts off. Make sure the shutoff arm is able to move up freely and that there isn’t anything interfering it from moving up or down. No ice If the ice maker stops making ice altogether, there are a few things to check. One is the shutoff arm. Make sure the shutoff arm was able to drop back down after the last ice was taken from the ice maker. This will tell the ice maker to make more ice. Also, check the water supply line. The ice maker needs a supply of water to generate ice, and if that supply has been cut off, it won’t be able to make ice. One more thing to check is the temperature of the freezer. It must be cold enough for the water to freeze in order to make ice. Ice tastes funny Every now and then the ice in the ice maker might have a funny taste or aftertaste. If this is the case, it’s a good idea to throw out whatever is in the bin and wash it out. Some dust or dirt might have accumulated in the bin. If that doesn’t solve the issue, the refrigerator’s water filter might need to be changed or replaced. This is just a small list of issues and troubleshooting tips to keep the ice maker functioning properly. They are good things to try before calling a repairman, and hopefully will helpful in diagnosing and fixing issues with the ice maker.
