First of all, making yourself throw up to lose weight is not a good tactic. Throwing up is a very violent reaction your body has as a LAST resort. As in "There's something in the digestive system that shouldn't be there. Open the floodgates!" Now, what happens when people do it, voluntarily, and all the time? Well, all the digestive acids constantly coming up are not good. It can cause rotting teeth, chronic gastric reflux, esophageal bleeding and ruptures, and a whole lot more. Some people want to lose weight for health reasons. Well, vomiting isn't healthy. Some people want to lose weight to look more attractive. Well, esophageal rupturing is generally not attractive! Point is, don't consider throwing up a valid way to lose weight.

Anyway, as far as losing weight safely, there's a basic principle. The principle is that you need to burn more calories than you consume. How many more? Well, at least 500. If you burn 10 more calories than you eat everyday, you're not going to be gaining weight, however that's also not a significant enough amount to lose anything. You also want to be careful not to consume too little calories, or burn off too many. As much as you may want to lose weight, you can't forget that your body does need fuel. With all that being said, how do you achieve this goal of burning more calories than you consume? Well, the two primary ways are diet and exercise, or a combination of the two.

Through diet, you can control the amount of calories, and through exercise you can control how many you burn. Commonly people do both. However, some people don't want to exercise or sacrifice their current diet, so they do one or the other extra hard. There's a catch with that though. If you eat Mcdonald's every day (or any fast food, really), you can't treadmill that away. So, if you want to lose weight, you don't necessarily have to eat healthy, but you can't consistently eat unhealthy.
