You have to prove in a court of law that the other parent is unfit. If the other parent is into drugs, alcohol, living like a gypsy or refusing to work and lives in a bad environment, then your chances of sole custody are great. It's best to see a lawyer and if you can't afford a lawyer and worry about the endangerment of your child(ren) then you can go to Child Welfare.
