I find the easiest way to get stain out of clothes is to apply washing up liquid to the stain before washing, either in the washing machine or by hand washing. I find this works really well and certainly much cheaper than stain removal products which do not always work
Getting a stain out of clothing depends on the type of stain, how long it has been there, and what time of material the stain is on. Normally, Shout or other stainlifters will remove the stain without altering the overall color of your garment. Never put an item in the dryer if it has been washed and the stain is still there -- it will set. For stubbon ones, use the product Grandma's Stain Remover. For blood, use Hydrogen Peroxide. Good luck!
Different stains affect clothes in different ways. Dyes stains occur when a dye is absorbed into a piece of fabric. Tannin stains deposit color on top of the clothing. Protein stains have proteins which interact with the fabric. Oil stains resist the water which is used to clean them.
