The first half of the globe, the Spherical Atlas, is found at the bottom of Emergence Cave, the first cavern you enter. It is located in the Valley of Repose and allows you to travel to the Awakening Wood. The second half of the globe, the Geographic Projection, is located in the Awakening Wood, across a pond from where you start. This half allows you to travel to the Perplexing Pool. Note: Both of these take the equivalent of 101 Pikmin to carry. It is not possible to have more than 100 Pikmin in the field at once, so you will need at least one purple Pikmin to carry them, because purple Pikmin count as 10 Pikmin when carrying objects.
After collecting the 2nd half of the globe treasure found in the Awakening Wood, go to the Perplexing Pool. Walk forward to find a cutscene showing the Yellow Pikmin. Then continue to walk past the Yellow Wollywog, to a set of scales. Throw all but 1 pikmin up there. Throw the last pikmin, while standing on the lower scale, on to the higher one to be lifted up. Once there, kill the Fiery Bulblax, and break down the poison gate. Walk to the pikmin and whistle to them and Yellow Pikmin are all yours.
You can find them in the Perplexing pool level (so make sure you have it open). Once you enter the level, you will be shown a scene that shows you where they are. To open the Perplexing pool level you also need a half globe in awakening wood.

In the second region that you land in (Awakening Wood), you have to get the white Pikmin from the White Flower Garden. Once you get out of the cave, you must go to where the previous cave (Hole of Beasts) was. If you go in the opposite direction, there will be a gate with two poison gas vents guarding it. Therefore, you must use your white Pikmin to break down the gate. On the other side, there is a Creeping Chrysanthenum. After you kill it, you will find the other half of the globe from Emergence Cave. It takes the equivalent of 101 Pikmin to carry it, so you will need at least one purple Pikmin. A recommendation is having Super Spicy Sprays ready, since the globe takes a long time to carry. You will also want to build the bridge, which will make the process of carrying the globe much faster. Once the globe is taken in by the Ship, it will say that a new area has been discovered. After the day ends, on the world map, you should see a new area be charted on the map. That is the Perplexing Pool.
Both Pikmin and Pikmin 2 were originally released on the GameCube, though they were remade for the Wii (New Play Control! Pikmin 2 was never released in the United States). Pikmin 3 will be exclusively for the Wii.
