Often a cooling fan will stay on simply because the AC compressor is on, and the compressor stays on when you are using the AC or defroster.
However, if the fan remains on when the key is off, check the relay. I believe the relay is the same type used for the horn so you could briefly "swap" them to see if the horn remains on.
If you find that the relay is sticking, you can purchase a new one at most auto parts stores, just don't go far (5 minutes of engine running at maximum) without a cooling fan; you don't want to run the risk of overheating the engine... that would be expensive.

This happened with my 2002 L200. The fuel pump return is a cheap plastic component that sits on top of the fuel tank. It can easily get bounced up into the body, at which point it breaks off and fuel pools on the fuel tank. This is an expensive repair as the fuel tank must be drained, removed, repaired, and reinstalled. I don't know about the AC part though. Good luck.
