Get vice grips and grip the fan pulley to somewehre on the engine so the fan can not move. Get a HUGE wrench and take off the nut behind the fan. Righty tighty lefty loosey.
It unscrews. There is a special wrench you can buy for this, or make your own.
There is no air conditioning fan on a 1992 dakota.
I ALWAYS USE A AIR HAMMER BUT YOU CAN GET IT OFF BY HOLDING THE WATER PUMP PULLEY AND UNSCREWING IT FRON THE WATER PUMP
Take off your belt. Take off the fan. take off water hoses on pump. Unscrew all bolts on water pump. There are many. Put new pump in the same spot . Put silicone sealer on all of the connecting metal of the new pump. Place the new pump on and bolt it back up again. Wait a while for the silicone to set and dry.
It is a fan with a clutch. You have to have clutch wrentches to remove it. The nut that holds it to the water pump is an 1 1/2 nut. You have to hold the water pump pulley from turning and loosen the nut by turning it counter clockwise (as you are looking at it).
Drain the radiator. Remove the pump belt. Remove the fan and shroud if needed. Unbolt the pump and remove it . Bolt on the new pump. Reinstall the fan and shroud, the belt, then refill the radiator.
Could be many things. Rad., Fan, thermostat, fan sensor, water pump, blocked passages.
With a 36mm wrench and a spanner to hold the water pump pulley.
on the back end of the fan, bolted to the motor. radiator, radiator shroud and fan has to come off to take it off
If you look at the big fan on the front of the engine, The water pump is what the fan is bolted to.
You can tell where the water pump is located by finding where the mechanical fan is bolted to. If you want to change the water pump, the fan and fan shroud must be removed.
fan clutch is built into water pump,u have to get new water pump.
