The simple answer is - you don't. Both small LCD displays (one shows the temprerature the other displays the gear on automatics) are extremely prone to fail on CLK's and cost about £300 to replace as you need whole new instrument cluster. Save yourself the money and stick your hand out of the window to check if it's cold.
