That tensioner pulley will not go loose do it it being Spring loaded. DO NOT attempt to disassemble it, the spring is under a huge amount of pressure. The best way is to go to your local autoparts store and rent or buy a "Serpentine Belt Removal Tool" It will attach to the tensioner and give you the best leverage on it.
you do not need a tool to tension pully belt if belt is loose, belt needs replacing tensioner works automatically
No you can not. If belt is loose, are won't fit then you have the wrong belt. The belt tensioner is spring loaded and that is what tightens the belt.
A few things, engine not running, loose belt, or seized pully on idler/tensioner or other acc.
You can adjust the belt tensioner by loosening the tensioner bolt. When the tensioner bolt is loose the tensioner pulley can move back and fourth.
The serpentine belt is held by tention with a automatic belt tensioner. If the serpentine belt is loose, you will most likely have to replace the entire belt tensioner assembly. the assembly comes with a new pully. Please visit my bio for a link to my Saturn help site for pictures of the assembly.
You don't, they have a tension pulley that does that automatically. If the belt is too loose, the pulley most likely has to be replaced. the tensioner is self tightening. it is spring loaded and adjusts automatically as the belt wears and stretches. if it will no longer keep belt tight, replace belt. if belt is already replaced, and still loose, make sure that the belt is installed in the correct position on all pully's. if this still doesnt work, replae tensioner with a new one
if ur talking about a serpetine belt u remove the old one by releasing the tension on the belt by put a 1/2 drive ratchet into the tensioner pully and release the tension on the belt and remove it then follow the diagram on how to run the belt and then pull the tensioner and place belt with that pully into the pully drive run and then release and ur new belt is on
CHECK THE IDELER PULLY OR BELT TENSIONER PULLY.
get a 1/2 drive rachet and a socket that fits the tentioner pully hand pull the pully to slack the belt pull the belt off and let the pully back in placethen you can loosen the nut ans tap the pully off if needed
Remove existing belt by applying pressure to the tensioner (pully) while sliding the belt off of another pully (AC compressor at top is easily accessible). The belt should be loose enough that hand pressure will suffice to remove the existing belt. After belt is removed, replace with new belt using the belt diagram displayed on top of the fan. You will need to apply pressure to the tensioner in order to allow the belt to fit over top of the AC compressor. Once belt is in place, remove pressure from tensioner. I was able to perform a belt replacement on my 02 liberty by hand (no tools to apply pressure to tensioner).
