Pull the front plug and turn the engine until it breathes on you w/ pressure through the plug hole. then put a dial guage rod into the plug hole and when it reaches top, that is TDC

Edit: A dial gage rod is not needed, anything that will fit into the spark plug hole will do. You can be sure your on TDC by looking at the crank pulley there are lines on the pulley and a pin sticking out from the front of the engine make sure the second mark from the right on the crank pulley line up with the pin
