You first need to take the bar off that goes over the two. Then there are going to be 2 plastic screws for the waher tank as well as one metal one that bolts into where the top fender is. You will have to unplug the washer fluid tank and pull that out. Then you should be able to get to the battery. Remove bar from the bolts. Remove the bolts from washer and disconect washer motor from the connection, then you will be able to get to the battery. There's also an electrical doo-dad you will have to loosen to get the washer section out properly, otherwise it won't squeeze out [1995 model].
You have to remove the black plastic rivets on the winshield washer fluid container that sits above the battery and remove it. you will then see that battery and be able to replace it.

The battery on the Monte Carlo is under the hood. It is under the washer fluid bottle, which has to be removed to reach the battery.

As I understand it, the windshield washer tank has to be removed. The battery is under it.
Remove engine brace on driver's side (The black bar that goes over the white washer fluid tank). Remove washer fluid tank and the battery in under there.

The battery posts are located in the lower right hand corner as you face the engine. It is under the windshield fluid container.. on the side of the battery!
