Just found out this one today. After removing the 4- 1/4 head screws loosening the gauges pull out the panel with the light switch. Towards the back of the switch on the bottom, is a little spring loaded button. Turning the knob c-clockwise to the dome light on position, push on the button and the light switch knob/rod assembly will come out. Then unscrew the bezel to remove the switch from the trim panel and 3 screws for the main panel. I do not know how much effort or if it can be done to remove the knob/rod assembly while the switch, gauges and panel are in place.

Pull the headlight switch knob when it is in the headlight 'on' position. This turns on the fog lights.
puch the knob on the headlight switch in, then turn it clockwise about a quarter inch, then pull it out. Its actually very easy.
2003 Kia Sorento 2.5L Diesel has a knob on the dash (next to the 2W/4W drive switch knob) power remote headlight switch to adjust the headlight level.
On the back side of the light switch, where the knob comes out, there is a place on the switch to depress with a small pointed object or small screw driver, press it in and at the same time, pull on the knob and it should slide right out, this requires looking under the dash to locate the back side of the headlight switch and finding the depress tab.
You have to reach up behind the dash and push a small spring loaded button on the headlight switch, then the knob and shaft will pull out as one.
Check the rear of the switch -some have a metal button on the side when pushed allows you to pull the knob out of the switch assembly
There's a spring loaded pin under the light switch behind the panel. Push that in, and pull the knob out. It may take a few times pushing the knob in and out until it releases. Then use a wide blade screwdriver to remove the bezel nut from the front side of the panel.
Above the instrument cluster there are two screws. Remove them. On your headlight switch there is a slot that you can fit a small flat tip screwdriver into. You have to put the screwdriver in this slot and press towards the dash to release the tension spring that holds this knob in place. Pull the knob towards you as you are pushing the tension spring. Then gently pull the plastic frame that goes around the instrument cluster and radio and headlight switch. This should pop out all the way around. Now you should be able to get to the nut holding the headlight switch in place. After removing this nut you should be able to work the switch out the access hole near the instrument cluster. Then unplug the switch from the harness and install in reverse order. I have had to replace three of these on my 1990 Thunderbird. Above the instrument cluster there are two screws. Remove them. Turn the headlight knob all the way to the left interior lights should light up reach up under the dash to the headlamp switch on top of the headlamp switch is a release button push the little button down and pull out the knob at the same time.
I just finished taking this switch out of my 1965 Falcon convertible The body of the switch has a spring loaded button on the side that is opposite the wires. Pull the headlight knob out (as you would to turn the headlights on) then depress the button on the side of the switch. Then, while still holding the button down, pull the headlight knob all the way out. This can be tricky. Just jiggle and twist the knob slightly as you pull, it will come out. Then, using a bezel removal tool or a very wide cross tip screwdriver, unscrew the bezel where the stalk of the headlight knob went through the dash. The switch will then be free to remove. Please be smart enough to disconnect the battery prior to doing any of this. A scorched fuse panel is not a problem that you want to add to the defective headlight switch.
The headlight switch is to the left of the steering wheel. Up till 1998 you pull the knob, after you rotate the knob to turn the lights on.
On my 96 Cherokee Country there is a button on the underside of the switch that releases the knob and shaft and the shaft just pushes back in until it catches.
