I just had a good reliable shop diagnose my cruise issue. Turned out the cruise was fine but the vehicle speed sensor was damaged and wasn't relaying any signal to the cruise system. It runs off the transmission and was around $100 plus time plus diagnosis time. 1993 Explorer 4x4 5spd XLT.
not connected to transmission or the plasitc gear there stripped. sometimes the unit goes bad on the control arm
Fuse
Does the "cruise" light come on?
cruise control not working,u need to check the fuses also check the clutch safety switch as this also has to do with cruise control
clock spring
I have a 2004 Ford Explorer and the heat does not work, but when i try to turn the control valve to heat it makes a clicking noise. How do i fix it?
if it is a explorer or a expedition from Ford I would ck the deactivation switch on the master cyliner and see if it is leaking brake fluid if it is then replace and cruise will work again !!! Timberland Ford Florida Service Manager !!
Damaged clockspring coil? check your fuse it works the cruise control, horn and cigar lighter
It is probably the clock spring in the steering wheel
After some work on the vehicle such as replacement of the main vacuum system, when the cruise control is disabled during the work, it looses its communications with the main system. The only way to fix this is to have the programing uploaded to it by a ford dealer.
If the cruise control on your 1987 300ZX does not work, you might have an issue with the cruise control fuse or wiring. You could also have a problem with the switch that turns the cruise control on and off.
