Do the following in order:
1. figure out how much money people in you area are willing to pay to wash their car
2. make a valid (believable) estimate of how many customers you expect to service during the time you expect to work washing cars.
3. determine how much money you will collect based on 1. & 2. (called gross profit)
4. figure out how much your supplies (soap, buckets, signs, etc.) will cost (expenses)
5. determine your expected (net) profit based on 3. & 4.
6. secretly write down a simple presentation to explain to your parents what you have learned in steps 1.-5. (better if you use visual aids like posters to diagram where the cars wait in line, wash station, rinse station, etc.), and secretly rehearse your presentation until you can deliver it flawlessly.
7. secretly wash your parent's car(s) and do a really good job
8. tell your parents you washed their car(s) in order to convince them that a car wash is a good idea, then perform the presentation you rehearsed in step 6.
9. if they're still not convinced, offer your parents a percentage of the profits
10. have fun, but don't let the car wash get in the way of homework or chores.
