Well the first question should be ,front wheel drive or rear wheel drive, then the next question is 4 wheel drive ? Then get a good chilton service manual and " read " the procedure. Then you need to ask yourself this question , how are you going to get it repaired ? or are you going to go to a junk yard and get another one ? Remember if you take it out and think a transmission shop fill fix it cheaper because you took it out , wrong! they will not repair it period. Unless you got a friend in a tranny shop .Good luck.
If you want to do it yourself, go to this site. It has step by step information on how to change your transmission fluid if you have an automatic transmission without a dipstick. http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=11&i=88582&t=88570#88582 If you are not comfortable with changing your fluid yourself, go to a dealership
There are several things that can cause your automatic transmission not to go into first gear. The most common cause is low transmission fluid.
Any of them if it is automatic.
on the transmission. and it requires gear oil
If it is automatic....check the cable.
Jatco company go to wikipedia!
automatic or manual ?
typically, almost all automatic transmission hold about 4.5 quarts, just go to your local auto parts store and ask them, they have all of the specifications for your vehicle.
for this you will have to go to the dealer
The automatic transmission uses ATF+4
If the transmission would not go into gear before changing the transmission fluid, then the fluid change was for naught. Hopefully you changed the filter in there, too. If the tranny was busted before the oil change, then simply changing the oil is not going to fix the problem.
You go by the manufacturer's recommendation.
