You see which one is nicer to you and which one you think you can live with out and with better.
The other parent has the file a modification motion.see links
In Missouri and Texas once your 17 you can up and leave, go anywhere you want, so if you live in one of those states, you can, if you don't you'll have to talk to a law enforcer or attorney to see if you can get the custody granted to the parent you want to live with.
For the grandparents to get the custody over the parent, they have to go through a court case and prove to their case to have custody.
If a child wants to live with the non-custodial parent, the parents will have to go back through the court system to change the custody agreement. Most states will allow the opinion of a 14 year old child as to where they want to live.
If the parents are divorced then it is between the parents if the child can go live with the other parent. At age 14 the child can choose witch parent he/she wont's to live with. If that other parent is not willing to let the child go live with that parent then it can be taken to court or just wait till the child is 18 and can go live on it's own.
depends on the other parent and the one your going to live with
my boys want to move in with me and I was told that at the age of 13 that they have the right to choose who they want to live with, now if the parent that you live wants to fight it you can go to court over it, but they can stop it unless it was already ordered by the court that you reside with the parent you live with now, or the parent you live with now shows the court that that the other parent you want to move in with is unfit....like on drugs, no stable home, no steady job, those type of things.......other than that they might as well let you go,because its going to be a waste of time and money going to court if the otherparent you want to live with is outstanding
There really isn't an age, the child can tell the judge where he want's to go but that isn't always the way the judge will go but he will take it into consideration.
well you can always go through the bad way and that's court and have like 5 or more people have your back its going to be hard...and you are going to tell them why don't you want to live with that parent and why you don't like it
That will depend on the specific situation and jurisdiction. Some courts will allow the minor to give their opinion.
if you do not want your parents to find out go to plan parent hood and get an abortion if you do not want your parents to find out go to plan parent hood and get an abortion
Only if YOUR parents agree to it. I know that this is a really hard time (because I've been through it), and maybe you don't want to "choose sides" by choosing who to live with, but staying with one of your parents is probably the best scenario. If you really don't care which parent you want to live with, maybe you could tell your parents that you want them to decide - that way the weight of making the decision is off your shoulders. However, if you do care which parent you would prefer to live with, let them know. The other parent should not blame you because you're not the one choosing the divorce. Whatever you decide, good luck, and God Bless.
