How do you handle a situation where you were together with someone but then they decided to only be close friends however even though you are trying to act normal you still feel awkward around them?

It understandable for you to feel awkward. It's probably because you still have feelings for them. It might be best to not be around them as much to give yourself time to get over them. Or try find a new person to move on to. But, if you still want that person, don't seem desperate or they wont want you because that will get annoying to them. =/
