There are two ways to get around this but I recommend the second one. 1) Just add both of the sounds (narration and sound effects) to the PowerPoint. Set them to both come in and it should work (I haven't tested yet). If it doesn't work, try Solution 2 2) Install trakAx, a music-creating thing for Windows. Once that's installed, first put the narration into the project. Then add the sound effects to the project. Move all of the sounds around. Then save your trakAx file as a sound file (You can do it but I forgot how, please find out and improve this answer as you will) and add the sound file to your PowerPoint. DONE!

What are features of PowerPoint?

MS PowerPoint is a software application that has replaced 35mm slide shows of the past. One creates this presentation tool by creating a series of horizontally formatted "slides".Each slide is created by putting a number of "placeholders" on each slide. These placeholders can be formatted to any size and hold either text or graphics. One can then add "special effects" for each placeholder, such as fly ins, fly outs, etc. to add interest and "sizzle" to the presentation.Video and audio can also be added.Just as in many Microsoft applications, the number of features is overwhelming and the average PowerPoint user most likely does not take the time to learn how best to use them. For more advanced uses, Adobe Flash and other applications can be used to add customized special effects and interactivity. When using PowerPoint, it is important to remember that the "slide show" is a presentation tool, and not the presentation itself. Learning how to use this application well is not synonymous with being a good presenter. The uses of PowerPoint seem to be endless. Almost any presentation can be enhanced through visual and sound effects, and this application has become the standard tool to do so. Unfortunately, it is often misused and almost everyone at some time in their life has experienced the dreaded "death by PowerPoint."Answered by Vikram Kharvi

How do people use sound effects in a PowerPoint?

One may insert a sound by attaching it to a slide transition, in which case you open the drop down menu in the Transitions ribbon in the timing section, or you can insert a sound from file by going to the insert ribbon and clicking on the audio drop down menu under the media section. From there it will give you the option of recording audio there, if you want, using some standard sounds built in to PowerPoint, and using one from file, if using one from file, click on that option, and browse for the audio file you want to use. However use caution if you are putting the PowerPoint on a flash drive or other mobile saving card, because if you don't have a copy of the sound on your mobile data storage unit then the PowerPoint will look for the sound on your computer, and not find it. It will therefore error and not play the sound. If you want the sound to play you should copy it to the mobile drive and attach the audio file to the PowerPoint from the drive copy, not the computer original, because if you link the computer copy, then PowerPoint will still look for it on your computer, but if you link the mobile copy, it will look on the mobile drive, and of course, if done right, play the sound.
