If your boyfriend has cold sores on his mouth and he sucks your nipples can you get cold sores there?

Yes. Ouch! Listen if he has visible cold sores , don't let him anywhere near you because herpes zoster is a very contagious disease. Make sure his sores are healed before kissing, having any sexual contact, etc. Once you have the virus in your system, it is ALWAYS there. If he needs disparately to suck on nipples, buy him a baby bottle or pacifier.

How does the herpes virus that causes cold sores infect host cells differently than a cold virus would infect host cells?

The herpes that causes cold sores remains in the nervous system and is reactivated from time to time. The sore reappears at this time. A cold virus doesn't act this way in the nervous system. Once a person has a cold, that person makes enough antibodies so that the virus doesn't cause a cold again in that person.

I still have a bright pink spot where the 2 cold sores once were underneath my lip. How can you heal skin faster after an outbreak of a cold sore?

I am not trying to be inappropriate but the BEST way to heal anything faster is steroids. I am not a user and advise against it, but from my research steroids does wonders for the healing process, this is one reason why so many athletes are users. They want to be back on the field as soon as possible for a chance at the ring. But they are illegal and have horrific side effects. Maybe a visit to your MD for some sort of cream would be best.

Is saliva te only way to transfer a cold sore?

The only way that I know of to transfer a cold sore is, saliva or actual viral fluid from a blister! Kissing or oral sex are two ways that cold sores are transfer. Once a person has this virus is can not be eradicated.

Does cold sores mean coughs?

A cold sore is caused by a herpes simplex virus and shows on the lip. It is a red, raised bump that gets crusty. Once you have these, you will get them time and time again. They have nothing to do with what we call colds and therefore with coughs, either. You can have both a cold and a cold sore but they are not causing each other.

Are cold sores caused by freezing temperature?

Cold sores will erupt at any time; and can be brought on by stress and a lowered immune system. The Cold Sore is caused by a variety of the Herpes Virus.
