You simply install and start web server software. That software opens port 80 and starts listening for HTTP network requests. You can then connect to that port using the address 127.0.0.1.

Note that you must have at least some network hardware available for this to work in Windows. It is not enough, in Windows, to have a network card, the card must be attached to something. If you have a wireless network card, enabling that card will enable the entire network infrastructure and make the network available; but if you have a wired card, you must connect it to a router, even if the router is not connected to anything, or you must download a "network loopback driver" from Microsoft.

Do all viruses destroy the host?

No. Some computer viruses are simply made just to 'watch' and record everything that is happening on the host computer. Others are created to retrieve and destroy important files. Please note that I am referring to computer viruses, and the host is the victim computer.

You are testing client server program how can test it in one computer making a single PC both client and server?

It's very simple. You just need to tell the client to connect to ip address 127.0.0.1, which is local host. You also define the port number for the client. On Server side, you just need to listen to that port. Then run both client and server programs on the same PC and it should work.

What are some examples of cloud computing?

Computer clouding is for big company's. Instead of buying software for all the computer you can just have a host and its called computer clouding. Which saves money. When you have new hires instead of buying new software you can just have an application.

What is used to determine if the host is local or remote?

It could be said that the most "local" host is the machine you are typing on, but that realization is not always implicit in the design of the protocol you are using. Also, computers on the same physical network can be considered local, as can be considered computers within the same address space - it really depends on your definition of "local" and "remote".If you're thinking about "geographical locality", IP address groups are assigned to countries, and then sometimes subdivided into states or cities, where applicable and possible, and there exist services on the World Wide Web that access this publicly available information in order to provide at least a rough approximation of the host's geographical localization. However, the most common idea thought about when speaking of "local" and "remote" hosts, is the idea of logical network placing - ie. a computer will be considered "local" if it belongs to the same address space (in this case, the IP/mask calculation will be performed, and will include any specific routing information, to arrive at a conclusion). Also, any computer you are connecting to can be considered the "remote host" - even your own! That is simply because the "other end" of a connection can be called "remote" just because it's on the other side of said connection (in this case, just the connection itself will differentiate the two sides of it). As I've pointed out above, it really depends on your definition of "local" and "remote".It is also worth keeping in mind that from the perspective of the computer you're trying to contact, you are the remote host!

Can an Ajax application communicate with other application on the client computer?

No, AJAX cannot communicate with applications on the client computer (with a few caveats.)JavaScript has no access to the local computer. This is by design. You can imagine the havoc that could be caused if my website were allowed to read your hard-drive (where you keep, say, financial information.)However, if you were to set a server up on the local machine, and then make requests to that server, and have the backend available, then you could gain access to that machine. Of course, that's a lot of work, and in the end, it's not access via JS to a remote host, just a local one.
