look at the center of the axle near the drivers side.you will see were the wires go into the actuator.Trace the wires and diconnect the connector.Next go back to were the wires go into the axle and that is the actuator.It will have a place to unscrew it with a wrench.Unscrew it,and screw in the new one and dont forget to reconnect the wires and you are done. If you havent already bought a new one they run around 70 bucks.

On a 95 ranger, the 4wd actuator needed replacing. on a 95 ranger, the 4wd actuator needed replacing. However, you can put it in 4wd and tap the from housing and it will sometime go into gear. The lack of use causes the actuator to freeze-up.
