I am about to do the same job on a 96 lumina. I've never done it on a lumina (a Jeep Grand Cherokee and an Impala) but the process is fairly simple. Take down the two straps holding the fuel tank (peferably empty) in a well ventilated nowhere near spark or flame area. Pay attention to any wires/hoses or wire/hose brackets. Twist off metal ring and gently pull out the float/pump assembly. It is highly recommended that you replace everything(pump,screen,float assembly,rubber ring and even the wiring harness) with brand new or you could possibly get more practice than you want. Anyway install is reverse of removal.
