Best Answer

If this is a wooden dowel pin, coat it lightly with yellow glue and insert one end into one part to be joined, tap in lightly about half way. Now line up other piece and put together with a clamp that fits over all . If no clamp is available, place one end against a work bench and tap the pin in with a carpenter or claw hammer.

How do you measure the barrel length of a shotgun?

First be certain that the gun is unloaded. Check twice. With the firing mechanism cocked (so that firing pin does not protrude into the chamber) insert a wooden dowel that is close to the diameter of the barrel into the barrel from the muzzle, until it rests against the closed face of the action. Mark the dowel at the muzzle. Withdraw the dowel, and measure the length of the dowel. This technique is also used with all other firearms EXCEPT revolvers. Those are measured from the muzzle to the face of the cylinder.

How do you measure rifle barrel length?

Insure that the rifle is unloaded. The rifle must be cocked, so that the firing pin does not protrude from the bolt face. With the bolt closed, insert a wooden dowel that is close to the bore size into the muzzle, and slide down until it contacts the closed bolt. Mark the dowel at the muzzle, withdraw, and measure distance from mark to end of dowel. This is also the technique used for most other firearms. REVOLVERS are measured differently.
