Should the choke be on when using the snow blower?

I have an older Spirit 8hp which is about in its grave. I have found that it is necessary to have the chope slightly or moderately open when getting her warmed up. If you keep it open too long I think you bleed out the gas. I had to experiment with mine to see how it reacted to adjusting it while starting and operating. trial and error.

Chokes can be really picky on small engines. You almost always have to have it full on to start, then reduce to half in a minute or so, then almost off when running. In cold conditions, such as when snowblowing, you may need to close choke a little to increase richness of the mixture.

How do you unlock a Black and Decker miter saw?

First, make sure it is unplugged.

There should be a small black button at the the back of the saw blade housing, usually on the left hand side as you are facing the saw. It presses into the bracket that holds the hinge assembly.

Relieve some of the lateral pressure on the button by leaning lightly on the top of the saw blade housing and push the button in. It will reflex back out to your finger, so let it.

Be careful that the spring-tension in the hinge assembly does not cause the saw blade housing to smack you in the face, because it just might.

Happy cutting!

What is a spade drill used for?

Spade drill bits are used for cutting a hole in soft material (wood, etc.) that is of significantly larger diameter than the shank of the drill bit. So, if you're using a 3/8" drill, you can use a spade bit to cut a 1.5" hole.

Spade bits are fast, and cut rough holes that may need finishing. I've never seen one used to cut metal, and strongly doubt that'd work.

How important are hand tools and power tools in making handicrafts?

  • The automotive hand tools are very important and with their ergonomic design and varied sizes, they can do an excellent job of reaching into tight areas, making them easy to move around engine parts.
  • · tools make life easier because they ease the work man has to do with his own hands. Not only do power tools help you finish a job in a fraction of the time you would have taken if you attempted to do it without them, it also produces better results.

How do you use an electric tile saw?

you use it

Well they do come with instructions, make sure you get the right blade for the right tile, keep water flowing it will prolong the life of the blade, and you are less likely to chip the tile, dont force the tile into the blade push it gently once it starts you hardly have to apply any pressure. When using a wet saw make none of the cords are frayed, it gets kinda messy so I wouldn't use it inside a finshed home.

Why would the motor of a radial arm saw smoke?

It could be that the blade is dull. The motor works hard to turn the blade and consequently producing smoke. Also make sure to keep your cut straight when cutting to prevent blade binding. It could be that there is a bit of saw dust in the motor. I'd try taking the cover off and blow out the motor. Use a paint brush or compressed air. It is a way of telling you it is TOOL TIME! Head to Lowe's of Home Depot and pick up a new saw. I never heard of a better excuse.vbd The motor should NOT smoke, EVEN IF "bogged down," or heavily loaded. Usually the smoke is from blade friction on the workpiece. IF it ACTUALLY is the motor which is the source of the smoke, then there is a severe defect within, and it needs the attention of a professional repair technician at a factory authorized repair center, OR as answer 3 suggests, it is time to replace the power tool.j3h.

How do you change circular saw blade if its new and there is no blade in it yet. It also has no blade lock just the wrench.?

[THE BELOW ANSWER IS FOR REPLACING BLADE, NOT NEW BLADE AS THE PERSON ASKED]

1. Make absolutely certain that the saw is UNPLUGGED!

2. Are you SURE the saw is UNPLUGGED???

3. Open the guard and place a small piece of wood into the teeth of the blade so as to hold it in one place.

4. Use the flat wrench which came with the saw or a box wrench of appropriate size to unscrew the bolt which secures the blade to the saw motor shaft. This bolt is probably a "left hand thread". Meaning it unscrews in the opposite direction from normal bolts (Remember "Leftie Loosie, Rightie Tighty? Reverse that)

5. Carefully lift the blade away from the saw motor shaft after catching the unscrewed bolt in your fingers.

6. Place the replacement blade onto the shaft, making sure that if there is a diamond shaped metal insert there, that it fits the shaft. Some blades have inserts, some do not.

7. Tighten the bolt back onto the shaft remembering that it is a Left-Hand Thread and tighten in the opposite direction of a normal bolt.

8. Tighten the bolt firmly, but not "too tight"

9. If the bolt is too loose you will know it when you attempt to saw as the blade will slip. Just re-tighten the bolt at that time after unplugging the saw prior to using the wrench on the bolt again.

How does an air compressor work Im talking electric industrial type for power tools putting air into tires etc.?

As the piston moves down, the vacuum created allows outside air to push open the inlet valve (left). During compression (right), the inlet valve shuts while air is pressed into tank.

Can you run 240 volt power tools on 110 volts?

Not directly. You would either need to step up the voltage using a transformer or have a 240V receptacle installed. Most homes are actually supplied with 240V in North America which is split to produce two separate 120V legs with a Neutral Center Tap. The voltage between these legs, however, is still 240V.

Your belt is the first thing I would check. If your belt is ok then start checking shear pins and bolts. If they are all ok adjust your belt tightener.

Can you use a 3 phase radial arm saw on 240V?

You cannot use a 3 phase motor on single phase power. It will be limited in it's torque output, if it starts at all. The best thing to do is put the 3phase motor up for sale on eBay and buy a replacement single phase motor. If that is not an option you can get a converter, but they are expensive. Don't try to wire a 3 phase motor up to residential 220 if you don't know exactly what you are doing. Chances are you will burn your motor up.

What can be used to lubricate electric clippers?

If they are outside clippers for hedges etc. I would use a grease of some kind, perhaps even a spray grease. If they are like hair clippers like a barber uses, I would use something like graphite like you use on your auto locks. Be careful though because it is very oily and can ruin your clothes. Avoid using WD 40 for these kinds of things because it can attract dust to the mechanism where you spray it. I worked in a hardware store for many years, that is how I know some of these things.
