Disconnect the positive battery cable. Remove the wires from the starter and pay very close attention to how they are connected. Mark them with tape or take a digital photo. Whatever you have to do, to remember exactly how they are connected. Remove the old starter which usually is held in place with two bolts. Be careful not to break anything. You may need two wrenches to remove the bolts, as some require you to hold one bolt while turning another. I would have the starter checked to see if it is indeed bad before replacing it. When you reverse the procedure and install the new starter make sure it is fully seated before tightening the bolts. Do not over-tighten. Connect the wiring to the new starter and reconnect the positive battery cable. Start the vehicle.
