diconnect positive batt cable on driver side down low is the starter the bolts bolt for the back side two of them disconnect cable on starter and replace.
Please note: the factory starter comes apart and you can replace the copper contact that usually fails/wears out after 70k. It's a $2 part.
The fuel pump on a 1983 Toyota Tercel is located inside the fuel tank. It sucks fuel from the tank and pushed to the engine.

The starter is on the bottom passenger side of motor. disconnect the battery first. then disconnect the wires attached to the top of the starter. then remove the 2 bolts going thru the starter to remove.make sure you keep track of any shims and put them back in . install in reverse order
On my 1990 Tercel it turns counter-clockwise. It's in there tight, but mine came out. Spray some penetrating oil on it first and let it soak. You don't want to break it off when it comes out. Especially if it's been in there for awhile.
