For the 1996 Saturn SL1 1.9 liter 4-cylinder, the torque in sequence one is 22 ft/lbs. In step two, torque in sequence to 37 ft/lbs. In step three, turn all the bolts 90 degrees and double check the final torque in the sequence.
Disconnect brake anmd electrical lines Remove mounting bolts pull master cylinder off activating rod Reverse procedure to install Make sure to "Bench Bleed" new master cylinder prior to installation
The 3.1 was a V6
The sensor is threaded into the coolant passage in the back of the cylinder head.

to replace the clutch slave cylinder... 1. remove the two bolts that hold the slave cylinder to the bellhousing. 2. hang it from a piece of wire..NOT by the braided hose. 3. remove the little pin that holds the cylinder to the hose. ***fluid will leak out of the braided hose... 4. When the fluid has stopped, install in the reverse order...
Remove the battery and the cruise control actuator. The starter has two bolts holding it in. Remove the bolts and wiring, then install the new starter. Re-install the cruise control and battery.
You will have to remove the transmission and then look inside of the bellhousing and you will see the slave cylinder bolted in with 2 10mm bolts. remove the 2 bolts and slide the slave cylinder off the jack shaft.
