first, make sure you have a very big hard drive then install ultimate. go into control panel, admin tools, computer management, storage, disk management. you then have to shrink the primary partition (probably c). then create a new partition. shut down and install vista home on the other partition. (it should be one of the options in the install menu)
It depeneds on your computer configuration. In my case it took me about 30 minus to intstall Vista ultimate.

If your harddrive is toast, then you will need to have the OS installed anew on the new harddrive. So you can just use your existing Vista disks to reinstall your copy of Vista on the new drive.
Install Win XP on the first hard drive, then install Vista from Xp and on question about "what kind of installation do you want to have?" Answer "separate" installation. When it asks you "which hard drive are you going to use?" Choose the second one. Vista will create a boot list automatically.
