get a water siphon, an algae scraper and aquarium water conditioner.
With the algae scraper scrub the inside glass and any other areas that have algae visible (the green stuff). If any of your ornaments need cleaning, take them out and scrub them (with something that's new and never use it for anything else) rinse them under tap water. Put them back in your tank.
Then with your water siphon, drain 25% (40% if the water is that dirty) into a bucket. Refill the bucket with tap water and add the water conditioner (this neutralises all the chemicals added in tap water). Pour the water in gently.
And that is how you clean your fish tank.
It needs to be done at least every week
You should do a weekly maintenance which includes using a gravel vacuum to clean any waste or uneaten food from the bottom of the tank until you have removed at least 50% of the water. Also clean the sides of the tank using an algae scrubber.
Then, before adding water back to the tank, first make sure that it's temperature matches the temperature of the water in your tank, and add in the required amount of water conditioner (two common brands are Prime & Amquel+).
You should also have a test kit to test the water on a regular basis to ensure that the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are at safe levels (0, 0 & under 10 respectively), as well as the PH recommended for your fish; make sure you test your tap water too.
u have to scrup the glass walls in the inside, u have to drain some water in a bucket and put fresh, new water into the tank, change the filter, and much more, you need mediance too, a certain kind of slat, and others which u can get this all at a pet store the people who work there will be happy to answer any of your questions about fishtanks/ YOUR FISHTANK
The best way to keep the water clean is to:
1. Make a water change about every 2-4 weeks. (I would buy an aquarium siphon to get the water out/ and you don't have to drain all the water you just have to take out 50% to 75% of it for it to be effective)
2. Purchase a filter and make sure you change the cartridge as frequently as the directions say.
3. If you wish you could purchase some live plants (they thrive on Nitrates and ammonia which are the chemicals that generally make your tank dirty)
4. You could feed your fish less food or less frequently (This is often times the most common problem since the fish food bottle usually tells you to feed more then needed)
If you still have problems you can always ask a local fish dealer or an employee at any general pet store such as Petco Petsmart or Petsupermarket. ____________________________________________________________ Above answer is correct with these few small additions/edits. First, never completely drain your tank of it's water. If your filter has two pads then alternate cleaning/replacing. Try not to do both at same time. Tanks fresh and salt contain good bacteria to help fight the bad bacteria and breakdown issues in the tank. Removing all the water, especially with a gravel vac, can reset your tanks cycle. Unless in emergency situations never take out more than 50% with 25% bi-weekly being the best. Also, limit the amount of lighting your tank receives. Algae like all plant life need light to flourish as well as nutrients in the water, primarily phosphates. Over feeding can provide these nutrients.
Well to clean water in a fish tank you have to drain out the water by getting a big cup. leave a little bit of water in the fish tank though for the fish. then put clean and good temp. water back in the tank. and if you have some, put a little bit of water conditioner in the tank. Hope this helps!
The guy at Petco told me if all you fish tank is is infected then bleach it. But if its not wash it with filter water, don't use soap.
If you cant keep a fish tank clean you can buy a fish tank cleaner
Change the water. Leave about a 1/4 of the water in for the nutrients and good bacteria. Also purchase a Plecostomus fish as they eat algae.
the cause might be a sick fish, a dirty tank, or over feeding.
It depends on how often you clean the tank. you dont need a sucker fish if you clean your tank alot. If you dont clean your tank that often then get one. you should talk to your local pet store for more information.
Tha most likely means it needs to be cleaned. or something is wrong with your filter.
No They are really a helpful fish in you tank most of the time they eat any grow algae growing your fish tank they add wonderful color into your tank and they are very active and have hundreds of live babies
No because they stick to the wall of their tank and clean the walls of the tank.
when the water starts to get dirty if it is a bit dirty then leave it when it starts to get really dirty clean the filter and your fish tank
Every fish will make your tank dirty because every fish puts out waste.
Assuming the dirty fish tank has had fish and water in it, without doing various specialised water tests it is impossible to tell what is in it.
No, a gold fish is clean
Scoop all your fishes to another tank or tub of water and clean the fish tank just as you would normally without the fish
Your fish tank doesn't need to be cleaned. It's always clean.
your fish have a funus growing on them that will kill them go to aquarium and buy white spot and fungas medication. remove fish from DIRTY tank. clean tank. medicate the water. if fish are sharing tank with other fish keep them separate and medicate till whits spot is gone this fungus will contract to all other fish if let go is mostly brought to tank by introducing plants or other fish that have already been contaminated.also by a DIRTY tank
The principle is 'dilution': with the first addition of clean water to dirty water, the dirty water becomes less dirty because it is diluted by the clean water. With the continued addition of clean water to dirty water, eventually the dirty water will be completely diluted and there will be no dirty water left; it will all be replaced by clean water.
the cause might be a sick fish, a dirty tank, or over feeding.
It is OK to use a detergent when cleaning (scrubbing) out a dirty fish tank. The important thing is to make very sure the tank is scrubbed with clean water a couple of times after the detergent has been rinsed out. Any detergent left in the tank could easily kill your fish.
depending on how dirty it gets i would empy everything out when cleanins is needed, scrub the inside and then fill it with new clean water
depends on the size of the fish, there might not be enough oxigen in a small fish tank.
