Correct tuning, correct heat range plug, correct oil/gas ratio for the motor
Oil and gas mixture too rich. : o )
Valve guides are worn and piston rings are worn crank case oil seeping up to spark plug fouling them change spark plugs or try irridum plugs they sometimes work in engines that consume oil.
check your spark plugs they could fouling up or gummed up enough to spark for a while then as they heat up become worse. a lot of common problems with engine stalling can be directly related to plugs or coil etc.
Fouling spark plugs can happen when the tip temperature is insufficient to burn off carbon, fuel, oil or other deposits and causes spark to leach to metal shell...no spark across plug gap will cause a misfire. Wet-fouled spark plugs must be changed as they won't fire. Dry-fouled spark plugs can sometimes be successfully cleaned by bringing the engine up to the operating temp.
I have a kx 250 dirt bike that keeps fouling plugs on start up. I rejetted it but that still didn't solve the problem. What could be the Problem?
2008 and before has 8 plugs. 2009 and up has 16 spark plugs.
Depends on the type of flooding. Hopefully the gas flooded and not the water flooded. If it's flooded by gas try starting it with throttle wide open. If it doesn't work after a while, remove spark plugs and crank engine over for few seconds (remember to watch out for the spark) Install new spark plugs. If the engine is flooded from water, you will have to remove the spark plugs and crank on it for a while till all water comes out. *I have personal experience here* Install spark plugs and attempt to start, if not remove plugs and keep cranking. It may fire for a second or two. Keep removing spark plugs to dry them off and crank some more. Keep this up back and forth for a while, or till engine fires up.
Soot, or dry fouling of the plugs is a result of unburned fuel. The causes are (in order of likelihood) 1. Not enough air. 2. Weak Spark. Failed spark plug(s). 3. Too much petrol. 4. Ignition timing incorrect. The main thing to establish is the soot on all plugs or just one or a number. If all, then 1,2,3 & 4. If just one or two, or a bank if multi carbed, then focus on that bank.
How do you change the spark plugs (or tune up) in a 2001 Infinity I30
fouled plugs can be lotsa thingshow about givin it a good rev now and then, i bet you don't . a big capacity engine will foul plugs if you idle around in it . is the engine worn out? or old? if so oil is fouling your plugs and there's nothing you can do but change plugs try a different heat range plug, hotter is probably what you need. is your air/fuel ratio right? ie. to rich. if its a done up motor with big power maybe a dyno tune is needed
Disconnect the battery, remove the spark plug wires and covers, and remove the old spark plugs. Next, put in the new spark plugs, attach the covers and spark plug wires and reconnect the battery.
Put the IROC up on jack stands and remove the spark plugs from under the engine.
