When you have problem shifting gears, you transmission has a problem.
Replace it with a know good one, if that fixes your problem then its the igniter.
The outfit where you are getting your engine should know if the transmission housing will bolt up to the engine.
I was unable to locate the oil filter on 2004 Toyota Camry (4 cylinder). Does anyone know where it is, and how to replace it? its is on the passenger's side of the car but more to the front where the wheel is. i had the same problem.
take your Camry to an Auto Zone parts store, they will hook it up to a diagnostics machine for free. Then you will know what your problem is.

It's not an easy question. The most obvious hints are grinding noise coming from transmission, car will drive, transmission will not shift to some particular gear or some of them. But before blaming transmission make sure that you have changed the transmission fluid and the fluid level is correct.
yes, the 94 has 2 shifting solenoids, if you know that they have been removed from the replacement transmission you will need them.
Unfortunately it is impossible to know this without the exact model of the cars. Usually if a different company makes the cars then you cannot exchange major parts.
