The alternator is probably over-charging the battery. Replace the alternator if the voltage at the battery terminals is over 15V when the engine is running.

it may be the starter going out doing it . it will kill the alternator if it keeps going . I know i had it happen to my 96 olds replaced the alt still didnt start and the starter fixed it

well pop your hood. you're going to need a 12mm socket to unbolt the battery post so then you can remove your battery. that's all. just make sure you remove the + and the - post so you can take out the battery.
